Limits of Star Trek.

We learn little about humanity when we imagine that all aliens are humanoids.

Consciousness, at least for humans, is embodied.

All that can uploaded is the information, and all that can be modeled is the information processing capacities, contained therein.

The source of anthropomorphism.

Our ancestors didn’t anthropomorphize the earth to give causal explanations. They did it to humanize it and to make worlds. The simple proof is we do the same thing to mechanical and virtual worlds.

Do I believe in “human nature”?

That depends—is “human” meant as a compliment or an insult?

“All-too-human” and the “all-too-inhuman.”

These, as far as I can tell, are perfectly synonymous expressions.
