Better and worse.

The only thing worse than a professional politician is a professional revolutionary. But the only thing better than a true statesman is a true radical.

The true is not the actual.

All poetry and progressivism, idealism and dialectics presuppose this lack of identity.

The true and the actual are not the same.

Think of commonplaces like “you are a true friend,” “the actor is the one who acts,” and “truth is stranger than fiction.”

Trivial to the extreme.

A definition can only be “true” by definition.

The truth is sometimes in the middle.

The truth is in the compromise only if we compromise between two extreme propositions, each of which is partially true but would be truer if checked by the other. The truth is compromised if we compromise between two extreme propositions, both of which are false alone and doubly false when taken together.
